The first time i heard the word Komorebi, it was in the Kiki’s delivery service song “Yasashisa ni tsutsumareta nara” by Matsutota Yumi. I couldn’t find any translation and just looking at the kanjis : 木 – tree, 漏 – leak and 日 – sun, i started being very imaginative of how beautiful the meaning could be.

Komorebi means “sunlight filtering through tree leaves” and i think it’s the most beautiful word.

I open the curtains, letting in the quiet sunlight
If we are enveloped in its gentleness, surely
everything reflected in our eyes is a message.
